Our People, Place, Power conference in Doncaster last month brought together over 220 people - practitioners, artists, academics - all with an interest in increasing arts engagement.

Right Up Our Street (the CPP project in Doncaster) gave us a warm Donnie welcome to open the conference

Darren Henley, Chief Executive of Arts Council England, gave our first keynote.

Writer, journalist and Visiting Fellow at Liverpool John Moores University, Lynsey Hanley's keynote was titled: Are we ever gonna be respectable? Doing culture the right way vs doing it the way you want to.

Artists Sarah Butler and Nicole Mollett talked about their creative commission More Than 100 Stories, drawing on the stories, achievements and challenges of the Creative People and Places programme.

The conference closed with a panel discussion: What is the relationship between excellence of art and excellence of engagement? It was chaired by Lyn Gardner from The Guardian and the panelists included Sylvan Baker, Matt Fenton, Jo Hunter and Jo Verrent.
