People Place Power is a two-day event organised by the Creative People and Places (CPP) network to provoke, challenge and move forward inclusive approaches to arts engagement, with an emphasis on sharing learning and practice.

Taking place in Wolverhampton at the Light House on the 14-15 June 2018, it will unpick the themes of power, collaboration, ownership, relevance and place through a series of rich conversations. Hosted by CPP project Creative Black Country, the conference will bring together leading voices from within and beyond the arts sector, as well as participants, artists and Creative People and Places teams.

Compered by performance artist Talia Randall with confirmed speakers including Sathnam Sanghera (author: The Boy with the TopKnot); Matthew Peacock (Streetwise Opera); Sir Nicholas Serota (Arts Council England); Anne Torregiani (The Audience Agency); Moira Sinclair (Paul Hamlyn Foundation); Jane Finnis (Culture 24); Mark Robinson (Thinking Practice); Ailbhe Murphy (Create); Jeanette Bain-Burnett (Greater London Authority); Chrissie Tiller (cultural thinker and author of Power Up); Viktoria Nguema (Arts Council Sweden). The full line-up will be confirmed by the end of March.

Participant and artist voice, experience and expertise is central to the conference including contributions from Jason Wilshere Mills (digital artist), Jo Hunter (64 Million Artists); Creative Black Country’s 100 Masters; Nicole Mollett (More Than 100 Stories); and Creative People and Places participants and teams from bait; Peterborough Presents; Cultural Spring; CPP Hounslow; Heart of Glass; Made in Corby; Appetite; LeftCoast; Creative Scene and Creative Black Country.

There’ll be a warm Black Country welcome with a free cinema screening at the eclectic Light House, a curry and comedy evening, and the opportunity to immerse yourself in the recreated surroundings of the infamous Desi Pubs.
